ABOUT JOSÉ

José Antonio Rodríguez is one of the few composers of Flamenco music with international prestige.
To this we must add his characteristics as a brilliant interpreter and teacher. He has an extensive curriculum that
supports him as one of the leaders in the world of Flamenco music. He has recorded eleven solo albums playing of this own compositions, "Calahorra", "Callejón de las Flores”, “Manhattan de la frontera”, “La Leyenda”, “Córdoba ...en el tiempo”, “Anartista”, “Adíos Muchachos...”, “El Guitarrista Azul” and “McCadden Place, as well as El Dvd live
"Córdoba ... en el tiempo".

In 1990, he premiered his concert for flamenco guitar, "Viento de Libertad" in collaboration with the orchestration of Joan Albert Amargós. Together with Joan Albert Amargós, he composed the play, "Réquiem" for the world premiere of the Compañía Andaluza De Danza with choreography by Mario Maya. He also takes part in the staging of the show, "A Oscuras" with Enrique Morente and Esperanza Fernández. In 1995, José Antonio Rodríguez intervenes in the movie, "Flamenco" by Carlos Saura. He participates in the discographic work, "Nochebuena Gitana" accompanying Camarón and Paco de Lucía. José Antonio composed the work, "El Jaleo", commissioned by the Andalusian Dance Center, choreographed by María Pagés and Fernando Romero.

José produced and collaborated on albums by well-known artists such as Paco De Lucia, Manolo Sanlúcar, Astor Piazzola, Chick Corea, John Mclaughlin Cacho Tirao, Al Di Meola, Larry Coryel, Matt Bianco, Assad Duo, Julian Bream, Costas Cotsiolis, José Miguel Evora , Rocío Jurado, Joan Báez, Camarón, George Benson, Fosforito, J. Menese, Diego Carrasco, Lulo Pérez, José Merce, Ronda dos cuatro Caminhos, Joan Albert Amargos, Carmen Linares, Arturo Sandoval, Carles Benavent, Rubem Dantas, Noa, Manuel Soler, Jorge Pardo, Tino Di Geraldo, Vinnie Colaiuta, Horacio Hernandez "El Negro", Anthony Jackson, Luis Conte, Alejandro Sanz and Antonio Orozco.

He performed with orchestras: Orquesta De Córdoba, The Royal Philarmonic Orchestra, Seville Symphony Orchestra. He recorded with producers: Roberto Livi, Ricardo Pachón, Eddy Martínez, José Luis de Carlos, Lulo Pérez, Alejandro Sanz, Rafa Sardina, Steve Sehan, Humberto Gatica, Rene Toledo etc. José Antonio participated in important national and international guitar festivals.

In 2001, José began his collaboration as a teacher in the guitar courses of Córdoba directed by Manolo Sanlúcar. In 2003, he composed for the ballet, "LA LEYENDA" for the Andalusian Dance Company premiered at the Flamenco Biennial of Seville and later included in its repertoire the National Ballet of Spain.

In 2004, he started a World Tour, presenting the new álbum, "NO ES LO MISMO" as guest artist of Alejandro Sanz. In 2006, he played in the film, IBERIA by Carlos Saura, dedicated to the composer ISAAC ALBENIZ. He composed the original music of the Ballet CARMEN with choreography by Aída Gómez.

In 2007, he premiered the films, Lola and El Corazón de la Tierra, where he composed and played on the soundtrack. He performed as an interpreter in the movie, "ALATRISTE". José Antonio Rodríguez performed at concerts: France (Festival de Nimes), Madrid (Festival CajaMadrid) and (Solidarity Festival), Russia (Concert for guitar and orchestra at the Guitar Festival in Kaluga), Seville (Cajasol Cycle) Concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, England, New York's (Skirball Center), Seville (Flamenco Biennial), Julian Arcas Festival of Almeria, Córdoba Guitar Festival, Fresno, San Diego, Los Angeles, California Portland, Lincoln City, Oregon.

José Antonio Rodríguez presented for the first time in Australia (International Guitar Festival of Adelaide) playing the Inaugural concert of the 2014 edition. His extensive musical training led him to collaborate with different styles of music including Flamenco, Pop, Disco, Boleros, Jazz, Turkish music, Portuguese music, Arabic music, Electronic, Ethnic, Chillout, etc. He combines his concert and composer activity with that as professor in international guitar courses. He is featured in the álbum, "ACOUSTIC FEVER" by Herman Rarebell, drummer of the mythical German group SCORPIONS, with legendary rock singers Don Doken, Bobby Kimball, John Parr. He collaborated in the work of the Colombian actress, Rita Moreno, produced by Emilio Estefan, including a duet by Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin.

The WORLD OF THE GUITAR TRIO, (José Antonio Rodríguez, Roman Miroshnichenko and Henryk Andersen) was presented on January 23, at the prestigious NAMM SHOW in Los Angeles, California, and was awarded as the best instrumental music album of 2015 by the Independent Music Awards in the US. In the same year, his new work, "Adiós Muchachos...", premiered in the international market with his first video clip, "La Fiesta de los Locos", sponsored by the Spanish pop star Alejandro Sanz. José Antonio Rodríguez participated in the LATIN GRAMMYS 2017, playing his composition, "MANHATTAN DE LA FRONTERA", as guest star with Luis Fonsi, Juan Luis Guerra, Niña Pastor, Maluma to the honoree of the night, as the PERSON OF THE YEAR 2017.

His CD in 2018, "El Guitarrista Azul", concert for guitar and orchestra, was recorded live at the 35th Córdoba Guitar Festival and edited by the prestigious American company MoonMoosic. At the beginning of his US tour in the Spring of 2018, José Antonio Rodríguez-Trio premiers his show in New York, With several sold out concerts including Los Angeles, Fresno, Gilroy, San Jose, San Francisco, Newport, Lincoln City, Portland, Tacoma and Seattle, José Antonio Rodríguez-Trio reaping great artistic and public success.

He has composed a tribute to Paco de Lucia, commissioned by the Swiss quartet EOS GUITAR QUARTET. The composers in this tribute are Leo Brouwer, John Maclaughlin and José Antonio Rodríguez. José Antonio is featured in the new EP by Ringo Starr, “Free Your Soul” with Dave Koz on saxophone.
